The final Sunday competition of this year was shot on Sunday when the round shot was a Worcester. This is a round of 60 arrows shot from 20 yards at a black and white target face with scoring zones of 5 down to one. Only 8 archers escaped from the Christmas duties to shoot the round with the top scorer in the Recurve Gents once again being Tony Hartley, but he was only 11 points ahead of Thomas Bott who has returned to the Club for the Christmas holidays from his studies at Lancaster University. Danny Cowin took the third place spot in this division. Karen Lott, who was the only lady shooting on Sunday, continued her spell of good form and put in another very good score for the round. There were only two compound gents shooting and Colin Moore knew early on that he had to settle for second place following a very slow start compared with Peter Mumford’s consistently high scoring which resulted in his score being only 2 short of the maximum for the round. As Jack Tyrer was the only junior shooting the round he took the honours although he was a very tired finisher after experiencing the “ joys” of shooting with a clicker attachment to his bow – keep practising Jack because it will pay off in the end! Bradley Layton and student Adam Wright elected to shoot a Rhubarb Challenge round with Bradley coming out on top.
