An 18-year-old girl who was found dead in her car earlier this month died from asphyxia.

Coroner of Inquests John Needham opened and adjourned Tanya Jade Dentith's inquest yesterday.

The apprentice vehicle technician from Union Mills was found on farmland near to a scramble track at Ballagarraghan off the Jurby Coast Road.

Her body was discovered by police just before 7pm on May the 18th however Mr Needham said the exact date of her death was unknown and could have been either the 17th or 18th.

A post mortem examination showed she had died from asphyxia as a consequence of breathing car exhaust gases.

Miss Dentith's body was released to her family and the inquest adjourned to a later date.
