The issue of the Island’s tourism strategy was raised in Tynwald this week and prompted an interesting response from the Economic Development Minister.
John Shimmin MHK said his department was looking at maintaining existing business and developing new opportunities.
Among other areas, focus is naturally centred on motorsport tourism, specifically the TT and MGP.
It was also revealed that tourism made up just two per cent of the Manx GDP, worth around £98million during 2011.
It’s thought each visitor spent around £326 during his or her time here.
