Mark Cavendish sprinted to victory in stage three of the Tour of Britain at Knowsley Safari Park this afternoon.
The Laxey man came back in emphatic style following his crash in the final few metres of stage one on Sunday.
The 27-year-old is preparing to defend his World Championship later this month and described his stage win today as ‘pretty textbook’.
Within the past few days Cavendish has said he wants to leave Team Sky, however this afternoon there was no doubting the team’s tactics as they set up the Sports Personality of the Year for the win.
Tomorrow’s stage starts in Carlisle at 11am and finishes on Blackpool Promenade 156km later.
