Mark Cavendish has confirmed that he is looking to leave Team Sky – less than a year after joining the British squad.
Speaking at a Tour of Britain press conference on Sunday Cavendish revealed that he is keen to arrange a meeting with Team Sky’s general manager Dave Brailsford.
The 27 year old Manxman admits he wants to leave the team for another which will put his priorities first.
He says staying with Team Sky would restrict him as a professional cyclist as he has ambition to win as many tour stages as possible – something he doesn’t feel achievable in the current set up.
Cavendish, who still has two and a half years on his contract, said he is hopeful the situation can be resolved as amicably as possible.
