Queenie Fishery to close tomorrow

The Island’s Queenie Fishery will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) as the fishing grounds cannot withstand the current levels of activity.

Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne made the decision after being contacted by individual fishermen, their representatives and the Chairman of the Queenie Management Board.

He says they requested a closure of the fishery with immediate effect as there is a general consensus the recommended catch limit has been exceeded.
