Police are appealing for information after a horse rider was thrown from their horse yesterday (Sunday) after almost being hit by a car.
The incident happened between 3pm and 3.30pm on the Glen Moore Road near Tynwald Mills in St Johns.
A blue or green 4 x 4 jeep sped down the road at such speed that the driver only saw the horse and rider at the last moment and was forced to swerve to avoid colliding with them.
Due to the speed of the vehicle and the sound of its brakes the horse became spooked and bolted before slipping on the road.
The horse sustained substantial cuts and injuries to its front legs as well as facial injuries but luckily the rider managed to jump off the horse into a hedge.
Police say the driver of the vehicle did not stop despite seeing the horse lying in the road.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Lissa Barklie at Police Headquarters.
