Biker killed after collision involving bike and bin wagon

Police are investigating after a fatal road traffic collision yesterday morning (Tuesday) which claimed the life of a local man.

It happened on the A3 St John’s to Kirk Michael Road at Cronk-y-Voddy just before 7am and involved a yellow and blue Dennis bin wagon, a blue and white Suzuki GSXR motorcycle and a red and white Yamaha R6.

All three vehicles had been travelling towards Kirk Michael.

The refuse collection wagon had stopped and the two motorbikes subsequently became involved in the collision.

The rider of the Suzuki sustained fatal injuries and the rider of the Yamaha was taken to Noble’s Hospital for treatment.

Police closed the road for over eight and a half hours while they conducted enquiries at the scene.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision.
