One of the newest members of Onchan Commissioners is calling for the board's members to scrap payment for attending meetings.
John Quaye, who was elected in November, was surprised when the local authority sent him a cheque.
Members currently receive thirty pounds for each board meeting they attend.
Mr Quaye says he took up the role on a voluntary basis, and that he didn't want the money.
John Watterson said that the money is for expenses such as petrol, phone calls and time taken off work.
Chairman June Kelly said she'd be happy to discuss members' pay at a later meeting, but that commissioners were free to donate their pay to charity, and that previous moves to alter members' pay have been unsuccessful.
