The Island’s new breast surgeon will take up her post next month.
Millie Bello has been a consultant general surgeon with a special interest in breast in the UK for the last ten years.
She replaces a locum doctor and it’s said her appointment will allow breast care services on the Island to be further developed.
Controversy surrounded the post last year.
Campaigners were concerned that the new consultant would spend lots of time carrying out other types of surgery and that breast services would suffer.
David Anderson is the Minister for Health.[play media file below]
Medical Director Stephen Upsdell says Ms Bello's appointment will mean fewer women will have to travel off-island for aspects of their care.[play media file below]
