£1000s stolen in DIY store burglary

Thu, 13 Jan 2011

Police are investigating the theft of thousands of pounds in cash from B&Q.

The news follows what emergency services first described as a 'major incident.'

The burglary happened sometime overnight.

Officers are appealing for information.

Meanwhile, staff arriving at B&Q work this morning were turned away as they were told there'd been a 'major incident.'

Workers are unhappy saying they weren't told anything and this caused them to be anxious for the well-being of their friends and colleagues who work overnight.

Staff were also told not to speak to the media, leading to more speculation about the type of incident that was being dealt with.

The shop has been closed all morning but is expected to reopen this afternoon.
