Former Mayor of Douglas passes away

Former Mayor of Douglas Dot Pitts has died.

Mrs Pitts had been battling with Bowel Cancer for a number of years and passed away earlier today at the hospice.

During her year as Mayor she was involved in numerous fundraising events for cancer charities, despite battling the illness herself.

She leaves behind her husband, Councillor Stephen Pitts, as well as four children, two sisters and her mum.

Earlier this year she stated her intent to return to Douglas Council, had there been a need for a by-election.
