Unions representing staff at the Steam Packet Company will be highlighting their concerns over freight competition today. At the Autumn 'TravelWatch' Public Meeting being held at the Villa Marina later (1000,) Nautilus, the RMT and Unite will hand out leaflets to make the public aware of the threat to jobs and passenger numbers, if the Packet loses more freight customers to Mezeron, which has begun a daily container service between the Island and Liverpool. The move comes despite assurances yesterday that no redundancies are planned in the short term
