Sir Norman's son describes funeral as a celebration
Sat, 23 Oct 2010
Nicolas Wisdom has described his father's funeral yesterday as a celebration. Hundreds of mourners from all over the world congregated in Douglas to watch the horse-drawn cortege pass along the promenade.
Among the 600-strong congregation in St George's Church were comedian Bradley Walsh, actor Todd Carty and former BBC chairman Michael Grade. Scottish singer Moira Anderson sang Who Can I Turn To and Absent during the service while Sir Norman's grandson Lawrence read a poem written by the comic called Gratitude.
A private service takes place in the north of the island today. Meanwhile a book of remembrance has been left at the Sefton Hotel bar for people to sign and leave messages and there is also a tribute to Sir Norman on our website www.energyfm.net
