The Steam Packet Company has revealed that one of its vessels will be running on three engines until the end of the current fastcraft season.
Further examination has revealed that one of Manannan's engines will have to be removed in order to prevent further problems.
Manannan suffered a crankshaft failure at the start of the month.
Engineers will remove the engine in October to avoid a number of sailings being cancelled.
Snaefell, which is also running on three engines due to crankshaft failure, will need around six days out of service in order to be repaired.
The Steam Packet says these repairs will be carried out in September when there are fewer sailings scheduled.
