Callister and Jones make golf final

Fri, 25 Jun 2010

The scene is set for a truly epic final tomorrow, with Daryl Callister and Davy Jones taking to Ramsey Golf Course for the 36 Hole Matchplay Final.

Jones was first to claim his place in the final, by dispatching defending champion Paul Lowey 8&6, a scoreline that no one expected.

Lowey had a number of miscues on the way round the course, which opened the door for Jones winning 6 holes on the trot to go 7up at one stage, which left a mountain that Lowey couldn't conquer.

Afterwards Jonny Evans spoke to Jones about how he played [play clip 1].

The other semi final match between Daryl Callister and Kevin Moore was much closer through out the evening.

The pair were trading the lead through out the match until the 14th where it remained all square until the end of the night, which set up a play off back down the 1st hole.

The tee shots of Callister and Moore were pretty even, but it was the second shots where that would change, after an uncharacteristic miscue from Moore, only advancing the ball about 100 yards, leaving himself a mighty 3rd shot to the green.

Callister remained composed and managed to close out the match, winning on the 19th hole.

Callister spoke shortly after the match about his opponent in the final [play clip 2].
