Short-term incapacity benefit claims fall by £75,000

The amount of short-term incapacity benefit paid out over the last three years has fallen by almost £75,000.

During the 2014-15 financial year, the Treasury issued payments worth £695,876 to those off work for less than four weeks.

However, the figure fell to £621,123 during the 2016-17 period.

Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan revealed the figures in a written answer in this week's sitting of the House of Keys.
