Only 150 responses to prescription consultation

The Department of Health and Social Care is calling for more responses to its consultation on plans to change prescription charges.

Proposals to introduce charges for those with chronic illnesses and pensioners under the age of 75 were unveiled last month, alongside plans to increase the cost of prescription items.

Health Minister Kate Beecroft says the high level of public interest in the plans hasn't reflected the number of responses to the consultation, with only around 150 people or organisations submitting their views to the Government for consideration.

The consultation remains open until September 12th, with the full details of the proposed changes available on the Government's website.
