Health Minister to investigate medical staff stress levels

The Island's Health and Social Care Minister will look into the mental health of medical staff.

Kate Beecroft promised to investigate after revealing that 76 doctors and nurses have missed work in the last 12 months as a result of stress, depression or anxiety.

68 of those to be signed off were nurses, while eight of the 131 doctors employed by the Department were forced to miss work.

The Minister revealed the figures in this month's sitting of Tynwald following a question from Douglas North MHK David Ashford.
