Outbreak of Strangles among equine community

There have been reports of an outbreak of strangles in the Island's equine community.

Also known as 'equine distemper' the infection affects the respiratory tracts in horses and can be fatal.

The disease is highly contagious and can cause long term economic losses to the farms and yards which it affects.
