Inflation and unemployment increases in March

Inflation and unemployment on the Isle of Man both rose during March.

The number of unemployed people on the Island increased by 24 last month, taking the total to 891, or 2.1% of the economically active population.

Treasury Minister Anne Craine has described the lastest figures as disappointing and particularly concerning for the building industry.

Mrs Craine says increasing inflation is a problem globally, and that the Island can't be insulated from external price pressures.

The Retail Prices Index rose from 6.1% in February to 6.7% in March.
