Homes evacuated in Douglas after ordnance found

Several properties in Douglas have been evacuated this afternoon folloing discovery of old ordnance.

Police say the incident is contained to the garden of a property in Watterson Lane.

Until the ordnance can be confirmed safe or made safe police are requesting certain households in the immediate area are evacuated. 

There is a road closure currently in place at the junction of Fenella Avenue and Watterson Lane, Willaston which extends northward for about 100m along Watterson Lane towards Cronk Y Berry.

Photos of the ordnance have been sent to explosive experts in the UK.
