The Health Minister insists running the Island's drug and alcohol advisory service on a one-year rolling contract allows the service to be flexible.

Kate Beecroft told this week's sitting of the House of Keys that the service must meet cost and quality improvement programmes.

The Department of Health and Social Care has recently conducted a strategic needs assessment of the service which could affect how it's run in the future, but Mrs Beecroft insists making changes would be difficult if a longer contract is awarded.

The Minister also revealed that tender bids have not met the financial requirements of the Department since the current provider's contract expired in 2015.
