MHK apologises over handling of TT trademark issues

The MHK responsible for motorsport on the Island has apologised for the way the Department of Economic Development has handled trademark issues relating to the TT.

The DED has recently come under fire after charging the RNLI a licence fee to use the TT name on its charity pins, while a local craft shop has also been warned about using the TT initials on its goods.

Rob Callister took to social media to offer his "sincere apologies", adding that the situation could have been handled a lot better.

He also revealed that local charities and not-for-profit organisations will be given licences for free in the future, and that the trademark only affects those selling goods, products and merchandise.

Mr Callister also reiterated the importance of protecting the TT brand and the quality of merchandise associated with the TT.
