Police 'committed' to reducing youth offending

Police on the Isle of Man say they're 'committed' to trying to keep young people away from a life of crime. 
 
That's despite what the Chief Constable has described as a "difficult year" for the Youth Justice Team which had its budget slashed by the Department of Health and Social Care. 
 
The multi-agency public protection unit works with children who've committed crime in a bid to reduce reoffending.
 
Between April 2015 and March this year 30 youngsters were subject to a 'Final Warning Caution' - of these 13 went on to reoffend. 
 
In addition 48 cases were taken through the court process - Sergeant Kevin Quirk says this isn't always viewed as a negative outcome:
