A teenager who stabbed a fellow partygoer at a Halloween house party whilst high on LSD has been jailed for four years.

Anagh Coar man Jack Bridson attacked Owen Plaskett, who was 17 at the time, in his garden in Farmhill in the early hours of November 1st last year.

The two men began arguing in the garden after Mr Plaskett raised concerns about drug use in his house – Bridson, who’s now 19, had turned up to the party with 117 tabs of a Class A LSD type drug.

Bridson, who has a long history of mental health problems, became agitated and was heard threatening to kill himself – Mr Plaskett described him as being “off his face”.

The argument restarted and Bridson went into the shed where he picked up a "sharp, bladed implement" – he then launched at Mr Plaskett stabbing him multiple times, causing life threatening injuries.

At Douglas Courthouse on Friday Bridson told the court he felt Mr Plaskett wouldn’t leave him alone and he wanted him out the way because he wanted to kill himself.

His advocate – who described the situation as “horrifying” - explained how he suffered from a schizophrenic personality disorder, often heard voices in his head and suffered suicidal thoughts.

Sentencing him Deemster Montgomerie said it was an “extremely difficult case to sentence” describing it as a “tragic” for all concerned”.

He sentenced Bridson to two years and three months for unlawful wounding and one year and 11 months for possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
