ABH accused finds advocate and has case adjourned

Wed, 11 Feb 2015

A Douglas man who's been charged with assault, causing actual bodily harm, has changed an earlier decision to represent himself.

31-year-old Martin Morris appeared at Douglas Courthouse via live link from Jurby Prison yesterday.

Having previously taken the decision to represent himself, this time he took advice from the duty advocate who organised an advocate to take on his case.

Morris has pleaded not guilty to two counts of ABH - which reportedly took place outside the Broadway Masala in Douglas on January 24th.

He also denies three charges of damaging property, and two of provoking behaviour, from the same day - and a further charge of damaging property from the day after.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes remanded him in custody for his own welfare so that medical treatment could continue.

The case has been adjourned until March 3rd.
