Search on for new Attorney General

Mon, 26 Nov 2012

Applications are currently being considered for a replacement for the Attorney General.

The Queen will appoint a temporary acting Attorney General to replace Stephen Harding.

He’s been suspended because of an ongoing court case where he’s charged with perjury, forgery and committing an act against public justice.

Candidates must be qualified advocates with at least 10 years' experience at the Manx Bar.

The successful applicant will be appointed for 12 months and will serve as a legal advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, Council of Ministers, government departments and statutory boards.

Duties also include representing the Crown in the prosecution of offences and responsibility for the drafting of Bills for introduction into the legislature.

The closing date for applications is Friday, December 7th.
