Island makes waves in Space industry

Fri, 05 Oct 2012

An Island based firm will be one of the key players in launching science experiments to the International Space Station.

Odyssey Moon Ltd will be teaming up with both Israeli and US based companies in a bid to fly three different educational microgravity experiments to the space station.

One experiment will look into how cancer cells develop in microgravity with another to determine the direction of sprouts and root growth in those conditions.

Tim Craine the Director of Business Development at the DED, has branded the news another great example of how the Isle of Man is expanding its efforts to become a central location for the new space economy.

The launch will take place this Sunday on board a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral.
