Committee set up to look into land swap

A committee is to look into the land exchange deal between the Department of Education and Children and Heritage Homes.

Michael MHK Alf Cannan asked Tynwald to set up the committee to investigate the agreement to transfer the Michael Primary School playing field to Heritage Homes in exchange for another field nearby.

The land was sought by the developers to provide access to a new estate.

Mr Cannan wants the committee to look at the negotiations, any payments and what other access there is to the land.

MHK Brenda Cannell, Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan and MLC Juan Turner have been appointed to the committee.

Mr Cannan has asked that they report back to Tynwald by May.
