Slight fall in air passenger numbers

Wed, 16 Nov 2011

The Isle of Man Airport saw a small decrease in passengers in October, but numbers for the year are still up.

The number of travellers passing through Ronald sway last month was 6,093 - just slightly less than the same period in 2010.

However, the decrease was expected as last October had been a bumper month.

Director Anne Reynolds says although she's disappointed with the drop, the result has given her some optimism as they have been able to accurately predict how the market is performing.

The state of the UK economy is the main influence on air travel to and from the Island and throughout most of the year traffic has been 5% lower than expected.

It's said that in the last few months, there have been small but consistent improvements.
