Manx residents heading off Island are being warned they could face fees of up to twenty thousand pounds if they fall ill whilst in the UK.

The Department of Health is reminding holidaymakers of the importance of having adequate travel insurance in place before leaving the Island.

Some treatment in the UK is covered through the reciprocal health agreement, but the costs of returning a patient to the Island are not.

The Department warns fees for repatriation can be up to twenty thousand pounds from the UK, and more from further afield.
