Six local authorities are taking over the running of the Eastern District civic amenity site.

Douglas Borough Council and the commissioners of Onchan, Braddan, Laxey, Lonan and Santon have formed a committee to enable them to manage the site collectively.

It had previously been operated by Douglas as an agent of the Department of Infrastructure.

The operating costs have been divided proportionally, with the Douglas ratepayer contributing over 60% of the money to run the facility.

The agreement is in place until December 2021.
