Post Office to reveal strike back-up plans

Tue, 05 Apr 2011

The Isle of Man Post Office is due to publish its back-up plan, after the Communication Workers Union confirmed a date for strike action.

CWU workers will strike next Tuesday in protest to a pay freeze.

The Post Office has condemned the decision, saying it will only cause damage to the business, customer and public support and jeopardise jobs.

The Union says its workers, which make up around half of the Island's postal staff, were promised a pay rise, but the Post Office says its hands are tied by the Government pay freeze.

Chairman of the Post Office Alan Crowe says the protests from the CWU shows that it fails to grasp the financial situation on the Island.

The Post Office will make its contingency plans available later today.
