Manx company ordered to treat customers better

Mon, 14 Feb 2011

A gold buying service based in the Isle of Man has been ordered to improve the way it treats customers by the UK's Office of Fair Trading.

Postal Gold is based in Douglas, and is one of three companies being accused of trapping their customers into accpeting offers for their gold.

Research by Which? has previously shown that such companies offer as little as 6% of the retail price of gold to its customers.

In some cases, jewellery was melted down before the customer had time to reject the offer.

Postal Gold has agreed to change its practices, along with CashMyGold and Cash4Gold
