A Douglas man must complete 150 hours of community service for having a shotgun and air-rifle without a licence.

34 year old Richard William Miller from Pulrose admitted possessing a part 1 firearm, a regulated weapon and regulated ammunition.

He told police he had taken the weapons, as he believed the owner was going to use them to harm another.

Deputy High Bailiff Alistair Montgomerie told Miller that the community service order was an alternative to 75 days in custody.

He also ordered Miller to pay £50 in costs, and that the weapons should be destroyed.
