Cost of Langness appeal to be discussed

Thu, 08 Jul 2010

The cost of the appeal over the outcome of the Langness enquiry is to be discussed in this month's sitting of Tynwald.

Seven parties lodged appeals against the finding of public rights of way on the peninsula.

Amongst those were landowners Jeremy and Francis Clarkson, and Graham Ferguson Lacey who owns the golf course on the northern half of Langness.

A final decision will now be taken by the High Court.

South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey will ask former Transport Minister David Anderson, who retains responsibility for the Langness enquiry, how much the appeal is likely to cost, and who will be paying for it.

It was previously revealed that the Langness enquiry cost the Government just short of £50,000.

Tynwald sits from Tuesday.
