With Christmas just around the corner Isle of Man Railways are running a host of festive trips on both the MER and Steam Railway and if you joinDave Sherwood weekday mornings from 10am you could be winning tickets for selected trains!


All aboard the Santa Trams for a magical trip to Santa's Grotto. Santa and his friends will be waiting for you in their Christmas Kingdom at Laxey, with a free gift for every child. Festive refreshments and a face painter will be available. Please choose your departure time when booking:

15th, 16th and 22nd December

Trams depart Derby Castle every 20 minutes from 09:40 till 15:40

23rd December

Trams depart Derby Castle every 30 minutes from 09:40 till 15:40

Trams depart Ramsey every hour from 11:10 till 14:10


Tickets:£10 per adult,£8 per child (includes present from Santa) Regular return trams also available.

A Medieval Christmas

Lord Stanley cordially invites you to the Court of Castle Rushen in celebrating with him the Yuletide season. With talks, entertainers, plays, children's activities and carols to get you ready for the festive period. So come along and enjoy the music, mulled punch and merriment. You could even get chance to wish Lord Stanley a Merry Christmas. Dress in Medieval attire if you so desire!

Trains depart Douglas at:11:50,12:50,13:50 and 14:50

Return departs Castletown at:14:34,15:34 and 17:34

Christmas Shopper

Let the train take the strain this Christmas. A shopper special will operate between Castletown and Douglas.

Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December

Trains depart Castletown at 12:34 and 13:34

Return departs Douglas at 16:20

Dickensian Tree Festival

A special Santa Train will depart Douglas for Port Erin's first Dickensian Tree Festival! Festive drinks and snacks will be on sale from the on board bar and an extra special guest will be boarding at Castletown to meet the kids! On the return journey, the Young Magicians of Mann will provide on board entertainment. At Port Erin station there will be a Grotto, festive entertainments and late night shopping throughout the town.

Saturday 8th December

Train departs Douglas at 16:50 for switch on of lights at 18:00

Train departs Port Erin at 20:00
